SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR FIREFIGHTERS

STORY.  I used to work with a guy who was a volunteer fireman.  He was in decent shape and primarily used running as his method to stay in shape.  One day he came into work with a sore back, sore legs and just plain beat up.  I asked him what was wrong.  He told me that over the weekend he had answered a call on a 2 story house.  Since the upstairs floor was partially burned out he had to put a ladder across the opening and crawl, with a hose, to the other side in order to attack the fire.  All that running had not prepared him for this type of physical activity.  I showed him a functional workout that worked the joints, improved his overall strength and made him do weight bearing exercises in positions that replicated his work as a fireman.  Over the next few weeks he lost 15 pounds of un-needed weight and became noticeably stronger.  Later when he had to answer the call he was no longer sore for a week.  He became a better fire fighter.

FUNCTIONAL TRAINING.  People that do physical work like fire fighters need functional strength.  Sometimes they need pure strength to lift something heavy, sometimes they need strength endurance to go up and down a ladder carrying equipement, and sometimes they need explosive power to knock down a wall or door.  More importantly they need to be able to deliver that strength in less than ideal conditions (Have you ever fought a fire lying on your back like on a bench press?) Typical gym programs will not give you what you need to perform in your job.   THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT I CAN SHOW YOU HOW!

PROGRAMS.  There are several options for firefighters available.

1. Individual training (i.e. personal training) tailored for firefighters.

2. Group Training. This can be done at the trainers studio or I will come to set up a workout program that can be done at the fire station.

3. Complete package of nutritional training, menu review for fire station and group exercise training.

4. Kettlebell training workshops.

5. Tailored programs for your needs or desires.  You can mix and match all and any.

*Individual training is the same as personal training.  Group training and package prices vary depending on size of group and what your needs are.
